The Walters are Wed!

I finally get a chance to put up Lindsey’s beautiful bridal portraits that we took LAST YEAR!  They were so great I had a hard time waiting.  BUT – I didn’t want to take the chance of Blake seeing her dress before the wedding.  My favorite moment of the day was when her dad saw her for the first time in her dress got a little teary eyed.  It was so sweet.  -Did I mention this was at the bridal shoot?!  I still remember it so vividly.  Such a sweet love.

Thank you/ Recap

Thank you for your support of our efforts to provide some relief to Haiti.  Your gifts and prayers were a blessing without which, this trip would not have happened.  As a way of saying thank you, we would like to give you an idea of what we did while we were there and let you celebrate all the victories we experienced with us.

Because of your support, our medical team was able to treat over 1,000 people who were in desperate need of medical care.  We served two days in a city called Lison just outside of Port-au-Prince and one day in Moleard, again just outside the city limits.  These “tent cities” had seen no medical care in more than two months since the earthquake and there were many that needed immediate care.  We served children and their parents and elderly patients as well.  In Moleard, we saw the largest need among children.  We treated babies that were less than one month old who had very serious conditions from failure to thrive to typhoid and dengue fever.  Without additional care, these children have a limited chance to survive their ailments.  This is the bleak truth of the need in Haiti.  The majority of relief goods (tents, food, water) never make it out of Port-au-Prince and there are many people still in need.

The organization with which we served is called Safewater Nexus.  This group is headed by a man named Matt Chambers, and they have a great vision for Haiti.  Their vision is not a short term vision but long term.  They realize that after the media attention wears off, there will be many who are needed to provide the infrastructure and opportunity for locals to rebuild and relocate in order to carry out a normal life.  They have acquired land in Cabaret, which is outside of the city of Port-au-Prince, and have begun, with the help of donors, to draw up a plan that would provide housing and a mission and clinic for relocated Haitians.  The best part of this vision has to do with a boy named Joshua.

Joshua is 12 years old and has cerebral palsy.  His mother abandoned him at Sacred Heart hospital.  The workers at the hospital didn’t even know his name, so they gave him the name Joshua.  This is where Safewater Nexus comes in.  Through many contacts and friends, Matt found out that Sacred Heart was due to close because of their lack of funds; he was approached with Joshua’s story and asked if there was anything he could do.  Matt felt the need to visit and help Joshua and within days had lined up a home for him at a home for special needs children called Northwest Haiti Christian Mission.  The story does not end here…

UNICEF approached Safewater Nexus with the names and locations of 250 other children who have special needs and have no homes and so birthed “Joshua’s Village.” Space was made in the plans for Cabaret and now Safewater will be providing homes for many of these children in the coming year!  God’s plan is always perfect!

Again, without your support none of this is possible.  Thank you from the depths of our hearts and keep us in your prayers as we pray and plan to return to help others like Joshua.  We give God glory for all He is doing and will continue to do!

Love and Peace

Baby K and her very cute handmade-by-mama Halloween costume.

Sweet baby Jack!  Cant wait for your little brother to come.

p.s. Isn’t that hat the cutest thing ever!  It makes me just want to squeeze him . . . but of course all he wanted to do was have me chase him.

No hugs for Megan.  I got it at H&M if you were wondering.

Words cannont express my love . . .

My friend Ana got engaged a few months ago to a wonderful, fiery red head named Pete.  Ana and Pete both have so much determination, passion, and love for the Lord.  Ana and I have formed a friendship over the past year and a half that has really meant so much to me.  It was a relationship full of laughter, encouragement, ambition, and inspiration.  Ana truly has a special place in my heart and has pushed me in ways she probably won’t ever know.   I am so sad that I cannot attend their wedding- I had a wedding already booked =(     – but I will be there in spirit.  I wish you both all the happiness in the world.  Here are a few engagement photos that we took a few weeks ago.

More favorites.

I was going through and putting my favorite 24 photos together for a little purse album for Ty and Adam.  How can I pick my favorite 24 photos- they all look so good.  I thought I had posted some of my very favorites but as I was going through I found some more- imagine that!  Here they are.  Stay tuned for some more posts soon- I have some engagement photos and family photos to post from the past couple weeks.  I am also shooting my friend Jessica’s bridal portraits this Saturday- I’ll check to see if her fiance ever checks blogs.  I might have to wait until Sept to post her bridal shoot.

The Kiss!!

I love snow. I dislike cold weather. I love puppies. I dislike disobedience.

I woke up Sunday in a beautiful mood.  It’s amazing how easy it is to get up early when there is snow outside my window.

It’s also amazing that I can look into those cute little puppy dog eyes and forget all the anxiety she creates in my house.  No one told me owning a puppy was hard.  I thought it was all snuggling and licking.  Wrong!  She is a great model and an excellent running partner (that is, when she doesn’t want to chase after cyclists).  I keep telling myself- just a few more months and she will grow out of it.  Please tell me I am right?  =)

p.s.  Willow I love you- no matter what i say!  😉
